Oath Of The Warrior

If we meet from now upon the road
And you wonder where I’ve been
Don’t look beyond from where I’ve come
Just see me as I am.
Take my hand and shake it firm
As a warrior I have been
And all the blood and life I’ve seen
I’ll give to you my friend.

I’ll carry with me the truth I know
And a warrior’s tale I’ll tell.
I’ll speak to you as one who knows
The paths that lead to hell.
You’ll see the blood that flows beneath
The road where I have come
But know that all that I have done
I did for you my friend.

You’ll hear the cries and moans of those
Whom I’ve fought in battles past,
You’ll see the wounds and scars I hold
From enemies who did not last.
It may seem to you it’s all not real
Just a fool who has gone too far
But stop and take a look within my soul
For a friend like you I’ll show.

Then before we leave, I beg
You find within your soul
The part that shows the truth I tell
Of a warrior whose lad you know.
The dreams we had from early days
I fought so they wouldn’t die
And the blood I’ve lost has done its part
To keep these dreams alive.
For the seeds to come will feed upon
The paths I’ve walked along
And the lives of future warriors
Will be guided by what I’ve done.

So this my friend is what I give
To you for future days
If our paths don’t cross again
For you my sword was raised.
I will not tire or cease to fight
The battles that prey upon
The dreams we had from early days
Are the oaths I’ve sworn upon.
